A Christmas DIY centre piece

I say it’s about time we start gearing up for Christmas… and it’s never too early…

One of the most important element of Christmas other than food, baking and family, is the décor… the tree needs to go up, along with all the lights… you need to decide on what crockery to use and on the colour theme…  It can get busier as Christmas is approaching so you would rather stick to some simple DIY which you can handle. Christmas table centre pieces are an integral part of décor in your home … for your coffee table and for your dining.

I have a simple centre piece for Christmas that is simple, elegant and that too it just takes ten minutes!

Here is a list of things that you need :
  • a single tier or double tier cake stand
  • your favorite Christmas sparkly ornaments
  • a few pine cones
  • a few Christmas tree branches (if you want but I didn’t use any)

Arrange all the above elements on the cake stand.. you can even use a string of lights and voila! your centrepiece is ready!

Let me know what you think of this DIY décor...and if you have any DIY decor to share, please get in touch with me at tbinspirations@gmail.com .

DIY Christmas Cards

Gone are the days when we used to make Christmas cards and post them to our loved ones…

In order to revive this and keep the tradition going, my dearest sis’ Anju took the initiative to pull all our cousins together on this little project. So all of us decided to make simple Christmas cards and send to each other. And this small initiative brought back nostalgic Christmas memories. Mailing addresses were exchanged with each other… and our creative skills were put in use. (Thank you Anju!)

I came across a brilliant DIY Christmas project on Pinterest where you just use Q-tips and some acrylic colours. And I had a fabulous time doing this with my 7 year old!!

  • So all you need are some acrylic colors - preferably Christmas colors, Q-tips for each color, Colored or white card paper and a paper plate to put colors on.

  • Create a card by folding the paper.

  • If you are making a Christmas tree then dip your Q-tip on green color and make dots into a tree shape.

  • Then add ornaments by making different colored dots. It is as simple as that!!!

  • Use your creativity, make any Christmas scene and have fun doing it with your little ones!!!

DIY Christmas Center Piece

It is that time of the year… The weather is chilly and perfect… cups of coffee and hot chocolate being served around… the Christmas tree and décor is up… the baking aroma from the kitchen constantly giving us nostalgic memories… and the carols playing in the background. Perfect countdown to Christmas...

Every year for Christmas, I try to come up with something new for my coffee table and this year I am trying out with something old, new and gold… All you need is a small or mini cake stand, any Christmas ornament to flaunt on your cake stand and some pine cones to sprinkle around and voila your center piece is ready to make a statement. I placed a mini Christmas tree on my cake stand instead of ornaments. Use your imagination to place something nice on the cake stand like scented candles or pine cones.  It is simple, less time consuming and looks fabulous! Tell me what do you think of my coffee table center piece?

Recycled DIY Cards

One of the nicest things about recycled cards is that it’s a great way to teach about recycling and sustainability. I had a pile of some wedding invitation cards that’s of absolutely no use now and I stashed it away hoping to recycle it all at some point. And since Christmas is around the corner I decided to recycle these invite cards into Christmas cards. So I cut them all into half… discarded the inner sheet that had the invite details and used my recently acquired calligraphy skills in use. Isn’t it a gorgeous (and green)idea?

Love these self embossed prints on the card... so hard to throw them away!
Cut the card into half... I will definitely use the Invitation printed side for future use so I have kept it away :)

My Calligraphy skill in use!

Lots more to write!!

Do you have a fun project for Christmas? Please share your ideas with good resolution pictures and mail to tbinspirations@gmail.com . I will gladly share it with my readers.

Vignette Inspiration from my Home

Decorating your home with fresh flowers gives an instant make over by creating an oasis of comfort in your space. My chrysanthemums are blooming away making my garden so beautiful and I couldn’t help myself bring these beauties inside my sanctuary. Flowers are the key to any beautiful vignette because it creates the most impact while styling. I paired these gorgeous flowers with books to bring in character, a tealight holder to bring warmth, my favorite birdie to add charm and a little antique box to add glamour to the whole styling…. Voila!!! Enough to bring in a glow to my space…

What are some of your favorite elements in your arrangement? If you wish to share your favorite vignette or styling, please get in touch with me at tbinspirations@gmail.com

The recently held WGO fair was a blast that offered handcrafted jewelry, clothing, accessories, home décor, kid’s décor, accessories, bags, unique Christmas decor, paintings, photograph prints, textiles and many more. The fair was absolutely fun, lots of hard work and creativity and it filled me with creative inspiration and ideas. And I hope to get to see more such fairs here in Oman.

Here are some of the pictures of the event and cheers to all those wonderful creative people out there!

Home Tour: Residence of Jessica Nickerson from Texas

Hello everyone!! I trust your week is going well and I am sure you can’t wait for the weekend to arrive. Well for me, besides looking forward to weekends, I can’t wait to share inspirations through beautiful home tours with you all. And now it’s time for another gorgeous home tour all the way from Texas. Jessica Nickerson and her husband have always loved styling their home, making it warm, inviting, pretty and yet functional. I loved everything they incorporated in this home. And you will notice there is a perfect balance between different styles like bohemian, country and vintage. I love the way Jessica has added character and charm to her space through different textures like wood and fabrics, thereby accentuating visual interest. Jessica is also the author of her blog “House Homemade” as she wanted to chronicle her DIY home projects to share her inspiration and ideas with everyone.

Let’s hear more from Jessica as she opens up her home for a tour

"We've lived in our house for 8 years and have changed pretty much every surface. Our big projects include kitchen and bathroom renovations and creating a more open floor plan and then other, smaller DIY projects that I talk about on the blog HouseHomemade.us

I've always loved design and styling my house and any other I can get my hands on. Things are constantly changing in here but when I make or thrift almost everything, no project breaks the bank. That's important for me to help people to understand. You can love your house and make it a cozy, welcoming place without going to a store and buying all the things. It takes more time to make or gather pieces you love off of Craigslist or from thrift stores but the end result is so much more fun!

The dictionary wall is one of my favorites and the tutorial can be found on my blog.

What a brilliant idea... Click here for the tutorial

Houseplants are such an easy way to make your space more homely. Stick them in a thrifted hamper or basket for a more finished look.

I just recently redid our back porch with a craigslisted table and chair set.

My dad made our headboard and I made-over a quilt I already had, with dye. You can search my love of dye on the blog too.

Our 2 daughters share a room. The black wall helps the Antique blankets and the entire color stand out.

Make sure you check back or follow me on Instagram @househomemade for more money saving, homey-home creating kind of tips.

Thank you for having me, Rachel!"

Thank you Jessica for opening up your home and giving us a virual tour!! Looking forward to more inspirations through your blog and Instagram feeds.

It took some DIY, Pinterest and YouTube inspiration, awesome food and to top it all up with some fabulous and gorgeous cupcakes and cake! What a fun day it was!

I had so much fun being a part of the décor team… made the pompoms… star strings for decoration… and my favorite… I managed to make baby booties as give-aways… it doesn’t cost much… all you need is some plastic or foam cups, scissors, ribbon, stapler and some candies of your choice.

Click here for the tutorial… and have a look at these pictures to see what it looked like…
