My Edible Garden

I read somewhere “Gardening is perhaps the most common and shared experience of nature”... how true!!
In the hope for the weather to get better and the heat to drop, I started growing my own patch of edible garden. Last year my harvest was good and I remembered the distinct flavour of my home grown vegetables... very different from the ones you purchase from supermarket. Its fun growing your own vegetables, relieves stress, therapeutic and it’s a great way to spend some outdoor quality time with my daughter.

For the time being I have planted beans, spinach, green chillie, tomatoes, lady’s finger, brinjal and basil and I hope to add more. It’s best to start small and make sure you get sun, plenty of water and good quality soil. Space is never a constraint for growing your own vegetable garden. You can grow it in your own balcony, windowsill or terrace.
Imagine picking fresh salad leaves from your garden! Are you ready to have an edible garden of your own?

Rains: A Great Tuesday Morning Distraction

It’s great to be out today and enjoy the fantastic weather here in Oman. The rains always have a strange effect on everyone…some love to just snuggle back into their bed…. Some love to read or go out…. Some love to blog, listen to their favourite music and have hot chai (that’s me!)…. My garden looks fresh and joyous today and I can’t imagine anything more perfect than the fantastic view from my garden.  Hope this weather continues….

Beautiful Sunday

It’s a beautiful Sunday morning! My heart is filled with gratitude for the beautiful weather here in Oman... And for the beautiful people around me and far away from me… I sat on my favourite bench, sipped my coffee, read a little, spend time with nature and I wished I knew each one of you who read my blog. So here is to us sharing a virtual cup of coffee and continue to walk with me in my journey.

Kalaniketan: Ethnic Fine Art Boutique

Kalaniketan is an exclusive boutique in Cochin for Lucknowi Chikan work on fabric. I had the pleasure of meeting the wonderful designer and owner of this boutique, Honey Vijayan, who has been in this venture for the past 16 years. This boutique offers a variety of sarees, salwar materials, readymade short kurtas and even shirts and kurtas for men. It was so hard for me to stop shopping there! The varieties of embroideries on sarees are worth checking out. This store definitely offers the best chikan art work on clothes in Cochin.

Designer Honey Vijayan in news

I fell in love with the small garden in front of this boutique which was ethnically done up and I couldn’t resist myself from clicking pictures.

Clicks from my Garden...

After a rainy afternoon my garden looked so fresh and energized... all the dust and grime washed away... green everywhere... my flowers glistened in the dampness... This motivated me to take a few pictures to share with you the colours in my garden. (Thank you rain!)
