Sanctuary to Relax

Our bedrooms are sanctuaries to relax rest and rejuvenate. It’s a tranquil haven devoid of chaos and worries. To me it’s a soothing oasis to indulge in comfort. So what do you do to create this comforting cocoon?

The key is simplicity and just follow these basic design ideas.

Declutter and Organise: Keep your bedside table and dressing table as clear as possible.
Colour scheme: Choose a neutral colour scheme for your walls that is soothing for your nerves and lifts your spirits.

Bed Linens: Indulge in some good linen that will set you your mood to relax. Choose patterns that will blend well with your linen colour and avoid bright colours. Make sure the fabrics are soft that will make you want to instantly crawl into the bed.

No media: Having a TV or a computer in your bedroom negates the whole purpose of having a restful sleep. This is one point I strongly follow.

Greenery: Try keeping a small indoor plant or some fresh flowers for your room. Just to lift your spirits and mood and it definitely helps to distress.

Furniture: Avoid overcrowding your room with furniture. Stick to essentials like bed, side table and dressing table. And if there is adequate space you can create a seating area.  Make sure all the pieces are proportionate to the size of your room.

Calm and Serene....

A light filled home with neutral colours always gives room for warmth and simplicity. I handpicked a few pictures from “House & Home” that’s fresh and inspiring. There is soothing whites, greys and blues….

A simple, casual and sophisticated living room. The built-in bookcase and the soft throw pillows elevate the earthy tone. I’d love to curl up on this sofa with a book!

This is an open concept style kitchen with country style dinning. The stainless steel cabinets and the dark floor give a shine to this vintage kitchen. And the reupholstered bench definitely gives a touch of elegance.

The soft whites and blues give a soothing atmosphere to the bedroom. The French door that faces the garden fills the room with light, the woodenchest gives a traditional feel and the high ceiling gives a spectacular and airy feel to this room.
