Recycle Ideas and Inspiration

I know many who are spreading awareness in recycling and doing their bit to save earth… and they have all inspired me to do my bit for our planet.  And I hope to pass the same values to my daughter… Kids these days are taught in school about sustainability and recycling which is brilliant as they shape our future leaders with responsibility towards our planet. Modern ideas help us to reuse and recycle old newspapers, wood, plastic and fabric.

I started collecting plastic containers and glass bottles to use as planters, storage and for décor…  So todays post is all about glass bottles and glass containers and how I recycle it…
I generally use recycled glass containers for storage. They are great to store pulses, spices, herbs, homemade pickle and chutney or fruit pulp. I also use them for packed lunches like layered salad.
And I use glass bottles as vase for home décor (especially coloured ones) or to store water, fresh juice or homemade wine. And as outdoor décor you can upcycle your glass bottles as candle holder for your garden or patio.

I would love to hear from you if you have more creative ideas and tips. I hope my tips has made you think twice before you throw away any glass jar and bottle away and help you simplify your recycling habits and inspire you to reduce your carbon footprint. I hope to bring more posts on recycling and if you have more ideas please email and I would love to share your ideas. Until next time Keep Calm and Recycle!!

·         Display plants and flowers with quirky pots to make it look pretty. Use hanging baskets or shelves to display plants and this will save your precious space for your balcony.

·         Place small table and chairs with comfy colorful pillows. Make sure to position your furniture well and try not to make it overcrowded.  It’s a perfect corner for you to chill, read and have your cup of coffee

Here are some key features of a Scandinavian design and décor

·         Use of white walls with cool greys and beige. And it’s more popular now to inject colours like black, green or blue, to add a bit of contrast. Experiment with bright coloured accents like throw pillows or rug.

·         Believes in minimalism and declutter. Scandinavian living is all about extra space for breathing so they use open wall shelves and sleek storage.

·         Use of accessories such as mirrors to reflect light.

·         Scandinavian interior believes in functionality.

·         Use of natural elements such as wood is blended well such as wooden flooring, picture frames and furniture. And elements of nature like dried branches are used as decorative piece.

·         Scandinavians believe in natural light so their homes generally have large windows.

These are beautiful rooms to wake up in right?

Hope the Scandinavian moodboard is soothing enough to pull you through the rest of your week…
Have a good day everyone!!

Small Space Coziness

My first post to kick start the new year!

Lately I have been drawn towards small spaces that are cozy and beautiful and I find myself collecting and bookmarking small spaces. I always believe every home, big or small, can benefit comfort and coziness. You can turn a smallest room into an inviting retreat, without clutter and look larger than it appears.

Here are some tricks to make your tiny apartment look expansive

Furniture
Visually to open up your space, choose furniture that has slim legs and have a simple clutter free furniture arrangement. Choose small multifunctional furniture pieces  with storage that will make the room more airy.

Colour Scheme

Use light and cooler tones to reflect light to make the room more spacious. Try to limit the use of dark shades as it can make your space feel confined and restricted.

Storage
The best way to manage clutter is to take advantage of unused vertical space.  Incorporate high mounted shelves or hangings shelves and storage compartments that will free space on your floor. This will also draw your eyes upward giving an illusion of a bigger room. Also make sure the shelves and storage compartments are light colours in order to blend well with the walls.

Lighting
Use of proper light is an important factor. To me a room is never cozy enough, if it doesn’t have the right amount of light.  If your space has huge windows then you are blessed to have lots of natural light. Stick to sheer window treatments to take advantage of natural light. Use of mirrors helps in reflecting light to areas that lacks natural light. If you love socializing and entertaining, use bright lights for large gatherings and smaller ones like table lamps for intimate gatherings.

Acessorize
To breed an instant warmth and texture to your space add a lush rug or a fluffy throw on your sofa. Plants too add depth and warmth to a room. Hang a large art piece or frame instead of small pieces of artwork on your wall. This will create a focal point to your room and thereby making your room look spacious. At the same while accessorizing try to embrace a minimalistic approach to avoid cluttered look.

I hope these tips were useful and you get to incorporate it in your space. If you have turned around your small space into a warm retreat, feel free to share at tbinspirations@gmail.com

Hallway Decor

Hallways are generally the most neglected area of a home with no design love. But actually, it deserves all the design love it needs because it’s considered as transitional space for the guest before reaching the other rooms of the house. One needs to set the mood right to welcome the guests as it gives the first impression of your home. The style and design of hallways must fit into the overall décor of your home.

If you have not given the required love and attention for your hallway, here are some ways to do so…

Light up
Hallways generally lack windows and the only way to enhance light is through large mirrors, wall lamps or hanging lamps.  And preferably a light paint scheme that matched the overall paint of your home.

Art
There are different ways to hang art in your hallway. One is to hang a single piece that is captivating against the wall. Or hang a collage of art work or photos from ceiling to bottom by creating your own gallery display with bold frames to create a pattern.

Furniture
If you have space constrain make sure you chose a console table that is narrow that fits in your hallway and place your favorite sculpture or a vase full of flowers to give a fabulous display to your guests. And if you have enough space you can add a book shelf or a small cupboard for storage solutions or a coat stand. But keep in mind it’s not heavily trafficked and cluttered. And make it as cozy as possible.

Plants

Use potted plants with beautiful textured planters to uplift the tone of the house. And its also a great decorating potential. Moreover a little bit of green always livens up a space.

Rug and Tiles

Place a nice funky and colorful rug with beautiful patterns to give an extra impact. Or create patterns with colorful floor tiles.
